Have you ever seen a line of clothing that has a label that looks like a cloud? The clothing line that has only one label that looks like a cloud that is another of the evisu clothing line. And here is one additional fact, the evisu was not founded in the U.S. or Paris, but in Japan, Osaka, Japan, to be exact.
The evisu or evisu genes is a Japanese clothing company that specializes in producing premium denim wear through traditional methods of work intensive.
The evisu clothing line was founded in 1998 in Osaka, Japan by Hidehiko Yamane a Japanese designer clothing, and the man behind the popular online linen clothing brand Evisu. The evisu brand was originally called Evis is the name of the Buddhist god of prosperity, but was eventually changed to what we all know today, Evisu.
The logo of Evisu, apparently, not a cloud, but in reality is a gull, and is still hand-painted on some styles of jeans. The evisu clothing line makes extensive use of heavy, premium-quality selvedge denim, produced on 29 inch wide antique looms.
And in addition to jeans, the clothing line evisu also makes some evisu t-shirts, evisu hoodies, jackets evisu, evisu evisu shoes and accessories.
The clothing line evisu, like all famous fashion lines of clothing, also suffered some scandals. In March 2006, the evisu clothing line and Yamane was reported to the Office of Tokyo District Public Prosecutor with another firm on suspicion of tax evasion. Yamane and the two companies are accused of concealing more than 500 million yen in income as well as evading some 160 million yen in taxes over three years.
