Can I bleach my jeans white?

I bought already bleached jeans from Forever 21, but I want them white so yesterday I washed/rinsed them in cold water with bleach.

They aren't white yet! Is this not going to work? Do you think if it's because they were bought already bleach and maybe it's something in the fabric?

Depending on the dye used, you may not be able to get them white. Your best bet will be to boil them in something like Rit Color Remover, which is a reducing bleach that's not as hard on the fabric as chlorine bleach.

Beware: if they've been dyed with indigo, you're going to think the jeans are white, lift them up out of the pot of color remover, and they'll go back to blue. Eventually, though, you'll exhaust the indigo and they'll stay white. Chances are, however, that the jeans have been sewn with polyester thread, and you will not be able to bleach that.

Don't use long soaks in chlorine bleach or soaks in hot chlorine bleach. Chances are you'll just wind up with rags.
